Luxury Nassau: The Short List
Where discretion, service and space actually deliver — and how to spend a week without touching a buffet.

Ocean Club Estates Retreat and Rosewood at Baha Mar lead on service and privacy; Rosewood gives you Baha Mar's restaurants and casino without their noise, while the Ocean Club end of Paradise Island is the quietest beachfront on the island. Graycliff wins on character — a 1740s mansion with a 250,000-bottle cellar and a cigar rollery — but it is a town hotel, not a beach one. For groups, a staffed Sandyport or Old Fort Bay villa costs less per head than four suites and gives you a kitchen and a boat dock.
Tables
Graycliff for the cellar and the tasting menu, Fish by José Andrés at Baha Mar for seafood, Café Matisse for a long lunch in a downtown courtyard. Reserve Graycliff and Fish a week or more ahead in high season. The single best-value luxury night is a private chef in a villa: expect $95–150 per head with provisioning, and better conch than most hotel kitchens.
On the water
Two formats worth the money. A private flight-and-boat day to the Exuma cays — swimming pigs, Compass Cay sharks, Thunderball Grotto — which runs roughly $600–900 per person and is the trip people remember. Or a crewed half-day charter out of Nassau Harbour with a captain who knows the western reefs, which is far better than a group snorkel boat and often costs the same for four people.
How to spend the week
Alternate. Beach and spa days on Paradise Island or Cable Beach, one Exuma day, one full downtown day for Graycliff, John Watling's and the galleries, one west-end day at Clifton Heritage and Love Beach, one golf morning at Ocean Club or Royal Blue. Keep the last day close to your hotel — flights out of Nassau bunch in the afternoon and the airport queue is real.
Small things that raise the trip
Ask your hotel for a fixed-rate driver for the week rather than taxis each time; it is usually cheaper and always faster. Tip in USD, 15–20% and often not included. Book spa slots for late afternoon, when the treatment rooms are quietest. And bring reef-safe sunscreen — several operators now require it.
